Acrylic on Plastic Bag Canvas
Approx 28"x30"

Not sure if my choice of canvas will disqualify me or not but I couldn't help but make my canvas out of plastic bags instead of traditional materials.

Also apologies for the horrible quality of the photograph. Unfortunately my camera really can't do the painting justice.

He he... So much about worrying on how you'd get disqualified. Told you this would make it. Good job! And good luck for the finals! :D

Congratulations!!! :) I ran out of drawing paper and had to do an Painting assignment for Art Class so I used Newspaper as my canvas. It was a painting of lion to show how shapes are used in paintings. I got an A for it and teacher thought using newspaper was a great idea cause the school was pushing recycling. I sill have that painting, but sadly it's falling apart :( You can view it here: [link] if you like.

Anyway nice job!

Thank you! Bummer about it falling apart! I had a friend who did pen drawings on huge newspaper boards. I cant remember what he used to put them together but I think part of his drawings were about them decomposing and falling apart over time because newspaper isn't very archival. Keep experimenting though! I think that's great.

I like this a lot.

But I wonder if the black and red splatter might remind the Dodge folks of a car accident, complete with leaking oil and blood.

That aside, it's well done and I like the interesting choice of canvas.

Ah that's true... Hope that it doesn't come across that way! At least it wasn't my intention! :/

don't be affraid to use not tradicional materials, it's contemporary! You gave the second life to this poor plastic bag! :) I saw your painting before it became finalist work, but I didn't read what you say about it. I like it. :)

I agree = something different and never thought of plastic as canvas. Please describe how you do this plastic bag canvas - never heard of this before

:] I'm glad you find it interesting! I pretty much melt, weave, or crochet plastic shopping bags together. I love using the plastic bags because of the textures I can achieve and the fact that I'm recycling them.

There's tin metal, wood burning, word collage, and they're among the best entrieI've seen so far... I don't see this being disqualified. Love the effect of the acrylic paint on plastic. This really looks good :)

wow, on plastic, now that's different. Awesome! :w00t:
If I were you, I would mark *traditional* in your title so the judges won't miss it, since we're mixed in with all that digital art. Good luck in the competition :w00t:
